SEVEN CONTINENTS, SEVEN SONGS, SEVEN DANCES
Forgotten buildings in Saxony are brought back to life through music and dance. In the virtual spotlight, you will be connected to the whole world through music from 7 continents. Video concept by Nadina Cojocaru and choreography by Jiří Bubeníček.
Dresden und Sachen ist Mittelpunkt des künstlerischen Projekts „Tanzgedichte aus der Stille – Seven Continents Seven Songs Seven Dances“, welches in 2021 von der Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen, National Performance Network Stepping Out und durch die Landeshauptstadt Dresden Amt für Kultur und Denkmalschutz gefördert wird.
Die Motivation zu diesem Projekt findet ihren Ursprung in der aktuellen pandemiebedingten ‚neuen Normalität‘. Die erforderliche Distanz zu Freunden und Familie soll in sieben Videos mittels Improvisationen und Choreographien des ehemaligen Semperopernballettänzers Jiří Bubeníček zum Ausdruck gebracht und überwunden werden. Dabei widmet sich jedes Videos einem anderen Kontinent. Für die Videos wird eigens eine musikalische Begleitung komponiert, die internationale Musiker und Komponisten beisteuern, darunter die Musikkomponistin Karen LeFrak aus New York oder Sascha Mock aus Dresde. Verbindende Momente sind Dresden und Sachsen, denn alle Filmbeiträge werden an verschiedenen Orten im Freistaat gedreht. Kleine Geschichten, die die sächsischen Orte ins Rampenlicht rücken. Ein Video, das bereits fertiggestellt ist, wurde im Gasometer in Dresden gedreht. Der Ort besticht durch die einzigartige Architektur Theodor Friedrichs und Dresdner Architekt Hans Erlwein.
„Für mich ist es wichtig, dass jedes Video unterschiedliche künstlerische Farben hat. Nicht nur unterschiedliche künstlerische Hintergründe, Ausbildung und Nationalität, sondern auch das Alter der Tänzer variiert. Zum Beispiel werde ich für ein Video Tänzer im Alter von 60 Jahren und in anderen Videos Tanzschüler verwenden. Ich freue mich, dass die Palucca Hochschule für Tanz in Dresden zugestimmt hat, bei diesem spannenden Videoprojekt mit mir zusammenzuarbeiten. Außerdem arbeite ich gerade an der Erstellung von Kostümen.“, so die Projektorganisatorin und Künstlerin Nadina Cojocaru. Cojocaru zeichnet neben dem Konzept und Kostümen auch für den Schnitt der Videos verantwortlich.
Das Projekt „Tanzgedichte aus der Stille“ möchte über Musik und Tanz Trennung und Einsamkeit überwinden. Dabei schlägt es einen Bogen von sehr persönlichen Erfahrungen der Isolation zu Objekten der Industriekultur und -architektur. Die Videos erforschen Lost Places und versuchen sie wieder ins Bewusstsein zu rücken. Industriekulturelle Orte in Sachsen werden so wieder ‚lebendig getanzt‘.

Dresden and Saxony is the focus of the artistic project "Dance Poems from Silence - Seven Continents Seven Songs Seven Dances", which was funded in 2021 by the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony, the National Performance Network Stepping Out and the State Capital Dresden Office for Culture and Monument Protection.
The motivation for this project has its origins in the current pandemic-related 'new normal'. The necessary distance to friends and family should be expressed and overcome in seven videos using improvisations and choreographies by the former Semperopera ballet dancer Jiří Bubeníček. Each video is dedicated to a different continent. A musical will be specially composed for the videos by international musicians and composers, including music composer Karen LeFrak from New York and Sascha Mock from Dresden. The connecting moments are Dresden and Saxony, because all films are filmed in different locations in the Free State. Little stories that put the Saxon towns in the spotlight. One of the video that has already been completed was shot in the Gasometer in Dresden. The place impresses with the unique architecture of Theodor Friedrich and Dresden architect Hans Erlwein.
“For me it is important that every video has different artistic colors. Not only different artistic backgrounds, education and nationality, but also the age of the dancers varies. For example, I will use dancers aged 60 for a video and dance students in other videos. I am delighted that the Palucca University of Dance in Dresden has agreed to work with me on this exciting video project. I'm also currently working on the creation of costumes ”, says the project organizer and artist Nadina Cojocaru. In addition to the concept and costumes, Cojocaru is also responsible for editing the videos.
The project “Dance Poems from Silence” aims to overcome separation and loneliness through music and dance. In doing so, it strikes an arc from very personal experiences of isolation to objects of industrial culture and architecture. The videos explore lost places and try to bring them back to consciousness. Industrial cultural places in Saxony are thus 'danced to life' again.
