Jiří Bubeníček
Dnes mezinárodně uznávaný choreograf Jiří Bubeníček byl v průběhu své předchozí téměř 25leté taneční kariery jedním z nejlepších baletních sólistů světa. Jeho vystoupení vždy vyvolávala bouřlivé nadšení: mezi mezinárodní hvězdy ho dovedlo jeho jemné hudební cítění spolu s jedinečnou taneční technikou a hereckým instinktem. Choreograf John Neumeier pro něho vytvořil v Hamburském baletu (Hamburg Ballett) řadu rolí, z nichž se až legendárním stalo jeho ztvárnění slavného tanečníka Václava Nižinského v představení Nijinsky.
V Hamburském baletu Jiří Bubeníček tančil v letech 1993-2006 (z toho od roku 1997 jako první sólista), poté se stal prvním sólistou baletního souboru Semperovy opery (Semperoper Ballett) v Drážďanech. Zde tančil až do roku 2015 velké množství rolí v dílech známých choreografů (např. Petipa, Fokine, Balanchine, Cranko, MacMillan, Kylián, Inger, Forsythe, Godani, Celis), včetně choreografií uměleckého ředitele souboru Aarona S. Watkina. Jako sólista hostoval po celém světě: kupříkladu v pařížské Opeře tančil roli Armanda v Neumeierově baletu Dáma s kaméliemi s nejvýznamnějšími balerínami té doby. Za tuto roli získal mimořádné ocenění „Benois de la Danse“ (2002). Je to jedna z mnoha cen v jeho kariéře, jmenujme alespoň cenu „Espèces“ na mezinárodní baletní soutěži Prix de Lausanne, nebo Cenu Mary Wigman, kterou uděluje Semperova opera v Drážďanech.
Od roku 1999 se Jiří Bubeníček začal vedle své kariéry tanečního umělce věnovat také choreografii. Seznam jím vytvořených choreografických děl je skutečně působivý: obsahuje přes sedmdesát titulů, a to od tanečních miniatur přes spíše abstraktní choreografie až po celovečerní dějové balety. Mezinárodní uznání získává zejména jako choreograf - vypravěč příběhů. Mezi úspěšné inscenace patří například balet Anita Berberová – královna noci (Anita Berber – Göttin der Nacht, 2016), Doktor Živágo (Doctor Zhivago, 2016), Piano (The Piano, 2018), Proces (Processen, 2019) a Popelka (Cinderella, 2019). Za svůj balet Carmen (2019) byl choreograf vyznamenán cenou „Europa in Danza“, jednou z mnoha, které mu byly v průběhu času uděleny.
Taneční a choreografické umění Jiřího Bubeníčka se často objevuje ve vysílání mezinárodních televizních stanic a je zachyceno na nosičích DVD. Vedle založení vlastního souboru „Les Ballets Bubeníček“, s nímž cestoval po světě s vlastními choreografiemi, se umělec navíc angažuje v sociální oblasti a usiluje o kulturní sbližování. V roce 2017 byl poctěn „Stříbrnou medailí hlavního města Prahy“, výjimečným oceněním jeho rodné země.
Apart from being an accomplished dancer and choreographer, Jiří Bubeníček has made significant contributions to the dance world. As the visionary artistic director of the esteemed touring company "Les Ballets Bubeníček", he has curated captivating performances that showcase his own mesmerising choreographies, as well as collaborations with other renowned choreographers. Under his leadership, the company has embarked on numerous successful tours, gracing some of the world's most prestigious venues, from Tokyo's grand stages to renowned theatres across Europe.
Jiří Bubeníček holds a Master of Art in Dance Pedagogy from the prestigious Palucca University of Dance in Dresden. With a deep passion for teaching, he has been actively involved in sharing his expertise at numerous ballets schools and summer intensive programs. He takes great pleasure in nurturing and mentoring the next generation of young dancers, inspiring them to flourish in their artistic journey.
Notably, he has taken his dedication to dance education even further by establishing the esteemed "Bubeníček Ballet Masterclasses" in collaboration with the renowned music Festival Krumlov, in the Czech Republic. This exceptional initiative brings together aspiring dancers and enthusiasts from around the world to immerse themselves in his enriching and transformative teachings. Through this remarkable partnership, he continues to leave an indelible mark on the world of dance, nurturing talent and fostering a deeper appreciation for the art form.

Carmen returns to Rome
The ballet "Carmen" will return to the repertoire of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. This full-length ballet, created by Jiří Bubeníček in 2019 for the company, will once again be performed by the ballet company under the leadership of artistic director Eleonora Abbagnato.

Czech choreographer Jiří Bubeníček and the Thuringian State Ballet will present an exciting new full length ballet based on the life of composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. This upcoming production delves into the triumphs and struggles of the extraordinary composer, whose journey was shaped by early talent, deep personal challenges, and exile from his homeland.
Though Rachmaninoff never composed a ballet, his evocative music becomes the perfect medium for exploring his genius through dance. PREMIERE
"LA STRADA" a theatrical masterpiece, made its premiere to a standing ovation on March 10, 2024, at the Theater Vinohrady in Prague, featuring the Prague Chamber Ballet company. With dramaturgy by Jiří Bubeníček (choreography) and Nadina Cojocaru (costumes and set design), this production breathes life into Federico Fellini's iconic film, ensuring an unforgettable experience.
